BunkerMetric demonstrates bunker planning optimization strategy through release of BunkerPlanner Lite, a free-to-trial version of its BunkerPlanner optimization technology.
In the business of buying bunkers for the fleet, great individuals can reach remarkable results based on their experience, wits and intuition. However, the power of a good algorithm supported by relevant data and most importantly the relevant constraints, will in the end win on its sheer ability to perform restless calculations of all possible solutions and not biased by the old learning.
BunkerPlanner integrates with Inchcape World of Ports.
Thanks to up-to-date port call, anchorage, barging and other costs taken into consideration by the BunkerPlanner, operators can choose the right bunkering ports from multiple bunkering scenarios without worrying about unexpected costs.

BunkerMetric named IBM Award - Outstanding Embedded Solution Partner 2020
Fuel typically accounts for 50% of a commercial ship's operating cost. Bunkermetric has created a solution where the shipping companies can optimize their purchase of fuel, which is good for both the company's finances and the climate. The shipping companies' needs are global and generic, which is why the solution is of course delivered as a SaaS solution. The basis is an ESA agreement that supports Bunkermetric's GoToMarket model and optimization software based on IBM's Cplex, which is state-of-the-art for optimization.
Webinar hosted by Abacus: âDeviation for a bunker port? When is it worthwhile?â Learn how the Bunker Planner tool, using advanced algorithms, can optimise your marine fuel procurement process. BunkerMetric co-founder Dr. Christian Plum, Ph.D. presented with Sarah Gilhespie-Smyroglou of Abacus Marine Consultants.
We have launched new functionality to achieve an optimal tradeoff between time charter rates and vessel speed in the context of fuel procurement optimization. Join our webinar on June 4th to learn more about this powerful new feature.
BunkerPlanner new feature includes TC rate and vessel speed for bunkering ports
BunkerPlanner, a bunker procurement optimisation tool developed by Scandinavian maritime technology firm BunkerMetric on Tuesday (12 May) said it has rolled out new functionality to assist vessel operators to reduce costs under any market combination of time charter (TC) rate and bunker prices.
BunkerPlanner now offers the possibility to integrate with Dataloy's API. The integration facilitates the acquisition of vessel properties, such as fuel consumption curves, tank capacities, and speed range, directly from the Dataloy VMS. Most importantly, the API integration enables BunkerPlanner to download each vesselâs schedule on a regular basis. With this, BunkerPlanner can prepare bunker plans automatically for further consideration by vessel operators and bunker purchasers. Please refer to the link below for additional details, or contact us to discuss this new capability.
Bunker costs is often half or more of the operating costs of a ship, hence control of these costs is decisive for any shipping companies bottom line. This is where BunkerPlanner helps, keeping a constant eye on bunker procurement using advanced algorithms together with the best data on prices, distances, port calls cost and everything else related to bunkering.
Danish Maritime Fund to Support Further Development of BunkerPlanner
We are grateful for the support of the Danish Maritime Fund. We continue to expand the capabilities of BunkerPlanner with additional logic for commingling, route forecasting, and consideration of TC rates, among many others.
